Hello athletes, coaches, and fans - As part of the Canada Artistic Swimming sustainability plan, which will be released in April, we are beginning to introduce measures to gradually reduce the environmental footprint of our events. Throughout the week, we will also be sharing daily reminders and tips on how we can collectively make our competitions more sustainable.
As a first step, the ribbons awarded at this year’s National Qualifier are made from Synaps, a tear-resistant synthetic paper designed to provide the durability of traditional fabric ribbons while reducing material waste. Because of its strength and water resistance, Synaps offers a long-lasting alternative that can help minimize the use of textiles and additional finishing processes typically required for fabric products.
Small changes like this may seem simple, but they are part of a broader effort to make our events more responsible and sustainable over time. We look forward to sharing more initiatives with you as the week progresses.
