Following the cancellation of the 2026 Carrick-on-Suir Willie Loughman Forest Rally, and having been ratified by the Motorsport Ireland Motor Sport Council (MSC) on August 25th 2026, the following decision has been taken regarding the 2026 Motorsport Ireland Junior Rally Series (MIJRS) Junior 1000 series.
Current MI Appendix 36 (MIJRS Championship Regs)
5.1.3 Class 21: A maximum score consisting of each competitor’s best performance in 6 out of 8 events will count. These being the 4 best gravel rally results and the result from the best gravel/loose rallysprint and best tarmac rallysprint
Has now been changed to;
5.1.3 Class 21: A maximum score consisting of each competitor’s best performance in 6 out of 8 9 events will count. These being the 4 3 best gravel rally results and the result from the best gravel/loose rallysprint and best two tarmac rallysprint events.
With no other alternative Gravel Rally on the calendar besides Laois Forest Rally, the decision was made to take this approach.
The process followed in agreeing this change is also outlined in Appendix 36
5.2. If the number of counting rounds is reduced, for any reason, the series Co-Ordinator may, in consultation with Motorsport Ireland make a recommendation to the Motorsport Ireland Motor Sport Council (MSC) as to what amendments should be made to the regulations for the series.
This will take into account at what point during the series the number of counting rounds is reduced.
All registered competitors will be notified in writing within 14 days of the MSC reaching a decision.
