Mikko Hirvonen has started the morning where he left off, eking out a further 7 seconds over second placed Deane Buist in the 12.9km Waipori Gorge stage. Buist now sits 37.5 seconds behind the flying Finn, with Jeff Judd a further 2:52.7. John Silcock took 9.5 seconds off Judd, but remains 44 seconds in arrears, with Tim McIver sitting fifth with a 9.8 second buffer to Karl Robinson in the Nissan Bluebird Turbo, who pulled back 10.1 seconds on McIver.
