Ben Hunt has pipped Ari Pettigrew for second behind Hayden Paddon over the 2.15km Tarmac Super Special. Pettigrew and Todd Bawden posted identical times of 1:32.5, with local Dunedin hero Emma Gilmour just 0.8 of a second behind, and Robbie Stokes a mere 0.1s behind her.
At the end of Day one, Paddon leads Pettigrew by 1:59.8, with Hunt (+0:48.6), Gilmour (+1:03.7) and Jack Hawkeswood (+0:4.7) rounding out the top 5. Todd Bawden (+0:50.8), Robbie Stokes (+0:11.3), Josh Marston (+0:20.5) Raana Horan (+2:12.7) and Clinton Cunningham (2:03.4) complete the top 10 in the NZRC field.
