Hayden Paddon has taken 2.5 seconds off his record to post 7:37.1 through the Waipori Gorge stage. His time was 10 seconds faster than that of Ben Hunt, on a mission to catch Ari Pettigrew for second place. Pettigrew lost 11.3 seconds to Hunt, but maintains a 37.3 second buffer. Raana Horan holds onto fourth, after his penalty incurred on day 1 was removed, however local driver Emma Gilmour has taken 6.1 seconds off Horan's overnight lead, closing to just 23.8 seconds.
