Marcus van Klink has extended his Day One lead over Jeff Ward to 1:13.5 after the final gravel stage of the day - with just the short tarmac sprint around Dunedin's Industrial area to run. Bruce Herbert, Caleb MacDonald and Brian Green round out the top 5 allcomers, and are likely to maintain these positions overnight, although with just 2.3 seconds separating MacDonald and Green, the NZRC stalwart may yet get a nose ahead of Caleb overnight.
