I have been asked about the differences between the previous route books and the current route book. Here are my comments:
- The biggest change is that Stage 13/15 has been shortened to avoid Seamus Burke's tree. This cut about .4 miles from the stage.
- subsequently, the transit from SS 13 to SS 14 has been increased by one minute from 20 minutes to 21
- on Stage 2/5, the tulip for Instruction 12 has been modified slightly to better represent the intersection
- on Stage 3/6, the tulip for Instruction 3 has been modified to better represent the intersection
- on Stage 8/11, the finish was moved back .07 so that the control car has a place to park off the road to mileage 7.85
- on Stage 8/11, the FTC was also moved to be within radio range of the Finish. This did not affect timing.
- on Stage 14, the tulip for Instruction 4 was modified to better represent the corner
- all maps and the Competiton Schedule were modified to reflect these changes
Beyond that, there were many small, immaterial changes to improve the correctness of the route instructions, such as changing the intersection of M-32, M-33 and Co Rd 487 from a blinker to a four way Stop.
Keep in mind as you use this book that the paper copy to be handed out during Check In is the official version, but, since we went to print with the version that is currently posted, they SHOULD be the same. Also keep in mind that the official version is subject to change via the Bulletin process.
