"I'm melting, I'm MELTING!!!" OK, who threw water on the Wicked Witch of the Sno*Drift? All the snow is melting. The ice on Old State is quickly turning to mud so it just won't be the same old ribbon of ice that we, um, love. All other stages are either muddy, slimy and/or fast as all get out. You are going to enjoy Black River Road! And East Branch! Stage 2, however, is another story. It seems the county is clearing brush from the sides of the roads and they have been doing Eberly and Blue Lake and the brush hog not only chopped down the brush on the sides of the road but tossed a bunch of snow into the road resulting in 8 inches of nice, loose snow on an uphill section! I barely made it through in my Touareg. A two wheel drive vehicle will NOT make it. So, we have asked the road commission to plow that section of road. Hopefully that will be done before recce starts at 9:00 am and I will be down there to inspect the road at that time then I will make a decision of what to do. If they do a good job, then no bulletin will be issued. Otherwise, we will look at the options. In any case, I would STRONGLY ADVISE competitors with 2 wheel drive recce vehicles to put off recceing stage 2 until Friday morning so as to give the other vehicles and the warm weather a chance to work on the roads. Anyway, recce starts tomorrow and things are looking great! Warm weather is in the forecast with no rain in sight so the road conditions should be improving over the weekend. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun! Disclaimer: nothing in any Road Report is to be taken as official. Only Bulletins can modify the rules or add new ones.
