When used in a vehicle with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a compatible app, the KMZ file can be useful for navigating during recce. One such app is Gaia GPS. To download the KMZ file to your device and use it with Gaia GPS, do the following. These instructions are for iPhone and Gaia GPS but will be similar for other navigation apps. Open the Sportity app and tap on the Olympus Rally KMZ file link. This will open a browser window and you will be prompted to download the file. Then open Gaia GPS. Tap on "Saved" at the bottom of the screen, then tap on the three dots in the upper right corner of the screen to get the "Actions and Settings" screen. Tap on "Import File", then tap on "Recents" to see recently downloaded files. Tap on the Olympus 2024 KMZ file. Tap on "Maps" at the bottom of the screen and the stage roads should be displayed. By default, the labels for the controls are not displayed. To display them, tap on Map Layers (it looks like at stack and is above the Maps button), then tap on the button below "Map Layers" to get a list of Map Overlay options. Tap on the slider button for "Waypoint Labels" to enable control labels. On an Android device, the steps are similar. Open the Sportity app and tap on the Olympus Rally KMZ file link. This will open a browser window and you will be prompted to download the file. Unlike on iPhone, Android understands file types and, if you have ever opened a KMZ file on the device before, it will try to open the KMZ file with that app. The app MAPS.ME supports CarPlay but does not support Android Auto. Gaia GPS works with either CarPlay or Android Auto.
